ACCEPTABLE USE
Procedure
Access to Navarro College’s computing and network resources is authorized only for use cases appropriate to one’s relationship with the college, either as a student or as an employee.
ACCEPTABLE USE
Educational, research, administrative, and other authorized purposes
Users must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and College policies while using computing and network resources.
Users must respect the privacy and intellectual property rights of others, including copyright and licensing agreements.
Users must exercise caution and good judgment when accessing, sharing, or transmitting sensitive or confidential information.
Users must report any suspected security incidents or breaches to the IT department promptly.
PERSONAL USE
Personal use is permitted only within reasonable limits.
Users are not allowed to tie any personal accounts unrelated to their role as a college employee or student to their Navarro College account.
Users are not guaranteed access to their college account or any College technology resource at the end of their employee or student relationship with the College. Personal data should not be stored solely on any College equipment, as it may become unavailable to the user.
Users may not leverage College technology resources for personal financial gain.
UNACCEPTABLE USE
Unacceptable use includes, but is not limited to:
Engaging in any activity that violates local, state, federal, or international laws.
Unauthorized access, use, or sharing of another user's accounts, passwords, or data.
Distributing spam, chain letters, or unsolicited bulk email.
Intentionally or negligently introducing malware, viruses, or other malicious software onto Navarro College's network or computing systems.
Harassing, threatening, or discriminating against others based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
Engaging in any activity that disrupts or interferes with the normal operation of Navarro College's computing and network resources or other users' activities.
Using Navarro College's computing and network resources to access or distribute illegal or inappropriate material, including pornography, hate speech, or unauthorized copyrighted materials.
ENFORCEMENT
Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or expulsion from Navarro College, as well as legal action where applicable.
