Lloyd Huffman (1964)
Engineer / Navarro College Board of Trustee
Class of 1964 | Inducted 2023
(In fondest memory of Lloyd Huffman, who passed away June 14, 2018)
Lloyd Huffman attended Navarro College in 1964 after graduating from Corsicana High School. He received a degree in Physics from University of North Texas and returned to Corsicana in 1974 to start Huffman Communications. He began a lifetime of community service in many areas. He built one of the first Doppler Radar warning systems in Texas, which is now a part of the Emergency Management group of Navarro County. The Palace Theatre restoration became one of his most important projects, giving two years of everyday supervision and personal labor to provide the town one of the few remaining operational 1921 vaudeville houses in the state. It was to Navarro College that he gave the longest lasting gifts. He served on NC’s Foundation and College Board, and was President of the College Board for several years. His tenure included five college presidents over three decades. He worked with the construction and expansion of the Cook Education Center, assisted with the addition of satellite campuses, filmed the opening of the Hunter/Gatherer exhibit, and encouraged many classroom innovations. After his untimely death on Flag Day 2018, Navarro College named the Public Safety building in his memory.
