(In fondest memory of Beverly Henson, who passed away August 15, 1998)

Born into a family of musicians, Beverly Henson grew up surrounded by music. He played piano and tuba while by the age of 13 he was organist/choir director at his church.

He registered for Navarro College and opened a dance school to pay for his tuition, books and supplies, food, and transportation; he kept the dance school open two years while he attended NC.

After Navarro, he went to Southwestern University in Georgetown where he majored in piano, organ and music education.

Successfully built an outstanding high school choral program at McAllen ISD.

Developed a fine choral department at Trinity University.

Built an amazing music program at Texas Christian University while also being a choir director of various churches.

Helped establish a doctoral level curriculum for choral directors at Oklahoma University.

After returning to Texas, Henson took over as Director of Choral Activities at Sam Houston State University.
